Drop down Hatch - only available with ladder £55
If you don’t already have a hinged hatch that swings down with catch and
hinges you will need one. You could just about get away with standing on a
chair and pushing the hatch up out of the way before pulling down the ladder,
but the ladder sticks out over the hatch and makes this very difficult.
We cut down the hatch so it’s a trap door with catch, THREE hinges for long term
reliability, and a brush strip round the edge for draft -proofing.
Sorry this service is not available on its own, it can only be ordered with a ladder.

Aluminium 3 section ladder £245
We find that our two section ladders fit 99% of lofts, but occasionally you may
need a three section ladder.
These are needed where:
•
The floor to floor height is over 2.6m/8ft, usually in larger Victorian houses
with tall ceilings, or
•
Where there is a very small space in the loft and a two-section will not fit
due to its length or
•
If you want more ladder protruding into the loft to hold onto when you
climb down.
Handrail - £15
For that extra peace of mind we can offer an optional handrail at just £15 each.
You can have two fitted, but they both can’t be on the same side. We wouldn’t
recommend them for small loft hatches around 2ft wide or smaller as they do
take up a bit of space.

3 section & 2 section ladders
Werner has taken over Youngman ladders and so you have to be
careful exactly which ladders you get fitted. We only use the Werner
formerly Youngmans Spacemaker two and Easiway three section
aluminium ladders in our aluminium ladder range. They are better than
the Abru or Werner Easystow type that you can get from DIY stores for
several reasons:
•
They have a smooth sliding action (with plastic runners on
aluminium) and don’t screech and grind (metal on metal) as they
come down.
•
The Easiway and Spacemaker ladder treads are flat and slightly
wider, unlike the Abru ladder where the
treads are rounded and most customers
seem to prefer flat rungs.
•
More importantly, unlike the Abru, the slope
angle on the Werner/Youngman ladder is
infinitely adjustable. This means we can offer just the right slope of
the ladder for our customers - to fit in awkward places or to be
more reassuringly less steep.
Other benefits:
•
Fits openings as small as 557mm x 406mm.: if you can fit into the loft
a loft ladder can be fitted.
•
Tested and certified to BS 7553 Class G (General Use) up to 150kg
•
Fitted with wide, flat, non-slip treads and rubber feet for safe
climbing.
•
2 section ladder with 10 treads.
•
Optional handrail available - add £15
•
Floor to loft floor height from 1.55 to 2.6m.
•
Weighs just 5kg - easy to pull down and to push up for storage.
•
Comes with 4ft loft pole to open hatch and pull down ladder
